About The Grant

The purpose of this scheme is to re-admit drop-out children belonging to scheduled caste to school. The scheme is provided by the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The main objective behind the scheme is to involve the voluntary sector and training institutions of repute to improve educational and socioeconomic conditions of the target group i.e. Scheduled Castes with a view to upgrading the skill to enable them to start income generating activities on their own or get gainfully employed in some sector or the other. The principle that good voluntary organizations should not only be assisted but also consciously built up has been guiding spirit behind the formulation of the Scheme.

The states or Union Territories included in this scheme are West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, Rajasthan, Punjab, Puducherry, Odisha, National Capital Territory of Delhi, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Manipur, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Lakshadweep, Kerala, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat, Goa, Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Chhattisgarh, Chandigarh, Bihar, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Focus Area
The target group is children of Scheduled Castes (SC) who will be provided benefits and facilities to attend school through the partnered organisations and initiatives that will be supported by the Center.
Grant/Award Information

 The Government of India may, however, meet 90% of the approved expenditure of the organisation in their activities to benefit these children as mentioned in detail in the circular

Eligibility Criteria

NGOs and Voluntary Organizations are eligible to apply for this scheme.

Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is a Government of India ministry. It is responsible for welfare, social justice and empowerment of disadvantaged and marginalised sections of society, including scheduled castes, Other Backward Classes, the disabled, the elderly, and the victims of drug abuse. The ministry has five bureaus, each headed by a Joint Secretary: Scheduled Castes Development Bureau; Backward Classes Bureau Coordination, Media, Administration; Disability Bureau; Social Defense (SD) Bureau; and Project, Research, Evaluation and Monitoring Bureau.
