About The Grant

Applications are open for the Annual Awards of Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation which will felicitate those men and women involved at the grassroots level who are committed to inclusive development working in line with Mahatma Gandhi’s constructive work program and who have taken a vow to selflessly serve the people, their community and nation, at large. The Jamnalal Bajaj annual awards have gained unparalleled significance in its efforts to honour the exemplary achievers who have made noteworthy contributions to the society at the grassroots level following Gandhian constructive work programme.

To encourage and recognize the outstanding contributions of the people who have worked unstintingly in the interest of the nation and its people, 4 four awards were instituted by the Foundation. There are three National Awards and one International Award.

  1. National: Award for Constructive Work following Gandhian principles in India
  2. National: Award for Application of Science and Technology for Rural Development
  3. National: Award for Development and Welfare of Women and Children (instituted in the memory of Jankidevi Bajaj)
  4. International: International Award for Promoting Gandhian Values Outside India (presented to an individual holding a foreign passport and nationality.
Timeline
The deadline for application is November 22, 2018. Each applicant will get a response within 30 days from the Bajaj Team. The birth anniversary of Jamnalal Bajaj is November 4 and hence the Awards function is organized around that time of the year in Mumbai.
Focus Area

"The preferred sectors (and sub-sectors) for support are:

  1. Environment & Natural Resources (Soil and Water conservation; farm-based livelihoods; energy)
  2. Health (Preventive and Curative Health; Drinking Water; Sanitation; Malnutrition)
  3. Children (Setting up homes, hostels and shelters; Special education for differently abled; Healthcare targeted at Children)
  4. Education (School and Technical education; Out of school education; Livelihood enhancement;)

Preference will be given to organisations and projects located in the following geographies:

  1. Maharashtra
  2. Uttarakhand and
  3. Rajasthan
Grant/Award Information

Each award carries a Citation, a Trophy and a Cash Prize of INR 10,00,000 (for the International Award, the Cash Prize is equivalent to foreign exchange).

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criterion for applicant organisation are as follows:

- They are a registered NON-Profit organization in India (Society/ Trust/ Sec.8 or old Sec.25) and has Income Tax registration under 12A AND 80G.

- They comply with any additional requirements for implementing organisations in the CSR Rules (under Section 135 of Companies Act 2013).

-They have a  track record of at least 3 years in working in the thematic area AND/OR in the proposed geography. Organisations having both will be preferred.

The Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation was established in 1977, in the memory of Jamnalal Bajaj. The Foundation has been respected as a Gandhian establishment in areas of developing the socio-economic arena in our country.
