At present UPAY is running 9 centres havingĀ 456 students and 46 dedicated volunteers in Nagpur zone. Out of these 96 are from Footpathshaala centres, who are the children generally engaged in begging or such activities to earn bread for the day and aren't even keen to show interest in studies.
Apart from that, we are opening a new Footpathshaala centre at Sakkardar square in Nagpur having a potential strength of 45 where the kids reside at the roadside slum.
Opening the new centres will be helpful in the overall developmentĀ of the children. once the centre is opened, the students will be exposed to newer teaching methodologies and resources.
These children don't usually get proper guidance and as a result, lose their interest in studies. Teaching the kids from the very beginning years of school not only helps to develop interest towards studies but also lets them explore newer opportunities.
We have 6 selfless volunteers to teach at this centre who are students from Social Welfare background.
Opening a new centre will give an opportunity to the kids at slums to come out of their horizons to the mainstream. Every child has an equal opportunity to read, grow and succeed.
