In Paderu, we are a bunch of 12-14 year olds, who attend the KGB Vidyalayam. Unfortunately, our school did not have a gate and we were prone to loitering by young men, wild and stray animals and at times, thieves who stole the school property. Our compound wall was incomplete and we did not have the resource to finish its construction.
We found that we have bamboo in abundance in our surroundings and decided to use the same to complete our compound wall. We got together, collected bamboo, cut them into various poles and tied them together to form a gate-like structure. Once we were satisfied with the structure, we erected it in place of the broken compound wall.
Now a days, we feel quite secure from the external elements who used to trespass our school premise. Since our school is located in hilly area, it is more prone to attack by animals. Also considering that bamboo fencing might get spoiled with time, we intend to build a gate of iron in the near future.
