Inali is a low cost prosthetic hand specially designed for people living with upper limb amputation
The Inali arm solves a problem that derails the lives of millions of people across the country. India alone is home to more than 22 million people with disabilities, with children making up nearly 8 million of that number. Due to cost and lack of accessibility, most of these people never get the help they need. So, Inali is a cost effective prosthetic hand design and developed for people living without any prosthetic care. While prosthetic devices available in the market cost nothing less than 10000$, the Inali Arm costs under 1000$.
This prosthetic arm can easily control the user’s fingers by shoulder thrusts and gestures. Unlike most prosthetics which are connected to muscle movements, Inali Arms operate by detecting brain signals. This makes it more accurate as opposed to muscle movements which can easily be misjudged. Even for people with burns or body fat, or even simple sweating, the conventional prosthetic arms can run a risk of malfunction or zero detection of signals.
The Inali Arm takes the signal from the impulses that come through the brain and when the user thinks of moving certain muscles, the arm responds to the signal and actions the required movement.
0.11 million people in India alone have lost their upper limbs and 85% of them are living without any solution just because of financial issues and an affordable arm would create a big social impact in their lives.
The cost associated with this innovation is 10x times lesser than the other available alternatives. It is a solution that helps individuals be independent again and earn their own livelihood.Life with a missing arm could be a big deal for anyone and getting an arm in 10x times lesser price could help such people to get back to the society and can make a huge difference in their life.
