Persons with profound disability - especially those who work on the computer using speech recognition software, can also make phone calls and send messages using the computer. This software, referred to as a MOBILedit connects your mobile phone to your computer so that all operations done using the phone can now be performed using your computer. This is especially useful during office hours when you do not have to manage your phone as a separate entity, hence making it easy for you to use.
MOBILedit is an central toolkit offering you the ability to control mobile phones and other mobile devices from your PC. After connecting the phone via cable, IrDA or Bluetooth, view the contents of the phone on the PC, do full-text searches, dial and send SMSs. With a simple click, backup all your data, copy it to different mobile phones and manipulate your contacts without even touching the phone. When you receive an SMS, it arrives on your PC similar to the way an email would; simply reply to it or move it to the archive. You will become much more productive as a result.

Assistive Technology can be developed by using existing technologies, customizing or adapting some of the tools or it is just about reinventing an already developed product. MOBILedit is one such technology which is although intended for normal audience has special application in serving people with challenges.
