MamaBirthie, a high-fidelity birthing simulator and skills trainer, is ideal for demonstrating the mechanics of labor and delivery and train skills including abdominal and vaginal examinations, normal birth, breech delivery, shoulder dystocia, cord around the neck, vacuum assisted delivery and forceps delivery including application of forceps for after coming head in breech in a realistic way.

In 2015, an estimated 300,000 women and 2.7 million new-borns died from complications related to pregnancy or childbirth. (WHO,2015). WHO emphasizes the importance of skilled health professionals attending all births. Only 51% of women in low-income countries benefit from skilled care during childbirth. (WHO,2015).
MamaBirthie meets the critical need to allow objectively teach, learn, evaluate and practice blind procedures during labour and delivery. The realism of the manikin helps exponentially increase the confidence of providers after practice. It is a skills trainer, helps in teaching decision making and is a simulator that can be used for team trainings.
MamaBirthie is designed with the aim to train, learn, practice and improve and maintain competency in care and management during the four stages of labor. It allows for realistic simulation and demonstration of both normal and complicated labor, focusing on the four stages of labor. It can be used as a table-top model for demonstration and skills training and evaluation and can be worn on body for simulation scenarios for team training in medical management, communication in teams and respectful maternity care.

• Pelvis and cervix inserts in the manikin help objectively teach, learn and practice head-to-toe examination of pregnant woman in labor (when worn on body) including abdominal and per vaginal examination.
• Allows Leopold’s manoeuvres and hearing foetal heart rate during per abdominal examination. Allows per vaginal examination including assessing pelvic cavity, station, cervical dilatation, effacement and presentation.
• Helps to learn and train for various birthing positions. Helps visualize the physiology of labor and positions of foetus within the amniotic sac. It has realistic foetal head, birth canal and pelvic floor that facilitates natural rotation of the head as it descends.
• Helps learn various manoeuvres to deliver baby in breech and in case of shoulder dystocia.
• Gives birth to BabyBirthie which is realistically articulated new-born manikin with fontanels and anatomical landmarks. BabyBirthie's soft head allows for realistic attachment of vacuum cup for vaginal assisted delivery and creates a chignon effect. It also allows delivery of head using forceps. Allows objectively visualize molding during delivery
